We’ve been covering the new advances in gene edited farming for quite some time now. The extent that the food in stores will still come from living animals and plants is perhaps insignificant, as 3D printing technology continues to outpace old-fashioned farming, processing and slaughter. But nevertheless, the question hangs out there: Will people eat these new genetic freaks? Will people be alright chowing down on an abomination?
And the answer, as you might have guessed is: OF COURSE THEY WILL!
So long as it’s cheap and sitting on shelves in stores, people will buy. Do we think that people will all of a sudden start giving a crap about this? Or about anything?
Not happening. If people were going to stop eating the food in stores because the farming and production methods were utterly terrifying, they would have stopped a long time ago.
Granted, a small percentage has. This small percentage will want the freaky foods to be ‘labeled’ in the same way current GMO foods are labeled. Which is fine. But most people don’t read. Most people don’t care. They prefer to let fate decide!
Fate, Ignorance, Whatever
They like to say: ‘Ignorance is bliss!’
And they aren’t wrong about that. Not knowing stuff is pretty nice. It’s easy, too. You can just do nothing. It feels great!
And then you die. Or a gene splice intended to enhance muscle growth in cows and goats also turns out to enhance rapid brain development, giving them intelligence that far exceeds human comprehension, and they decide to flip things on us and turn us into livestock. But before that, it is truly blissful. C’est la vie!
