While people have been worried about the negative impacts of industrial farms and mega feedlots, and while animal rights groups have been up in arms about the gore of slaughterhouses, meat producers have been holding on to a dirty secret.
Almost all meat out there is fake!
We’ve been tracking this story for a while now, and have had our suspicions. We’ve known that 3d printed, lab-created, slaughter-free meat has been out there. But we haven’t know how widely it’s spread. Now we know!
Food Tech Company Lets Cat Out Of Bag
Israeli based Aleph farms, suppliers of hummus and now meat to Costco and other food chains, have just released details on the creation of ‘fake steak,’ test-tube conceived cuts of meat that are virtually indistinguishable from the steaks you grew up with. The article explains:
“If there were a holy grail in the world of real meat made without farm animals, it would be steak.”
“Making a patty or a sausage from cells cultured outside the animal is challenging enough — imagine how difficult it is to create a whole-muscle steak,” Toubia said in a statement. “And then you also need to know how to cook. A crappy cook can ruin even the best steak. And that’s bad. You can’t blame us for that. But in the hands of a master… magnifique!’
They’ve been sneaking it into supermarkets for a few years now, while ramping up production behind the scenes. Needless to say, this spells the end for the cattle industry. Because really, why bother with all those fields and feedlots and gruesome killing? It’s just a bunch of needless work. Now, inside these new modern factories, a monkey pushing buttons can spew out beautiful steak after beautiful steak, virtually identical at a molecular level to the steaks your parents used to eat.
Religious Leaders Thinking About It
Religious leaders of the world are declining to make a stand, one way or the other, on the issue of ‘Fake Meat.’ Instead they are choosing to ‘Think about it.’ This is probably the correct course of action, although it leaves many people wanting more.
