A bombshell study has just been released that shows the negative impacts of digital screen exposure on the brains of kids. This is not the first of it’s kind. But it could be the nail in the coffin for many producers of electronic gadgets. (Today’s the day to short Apple, Samsung, Facebook, etc.)
According to the study, which has followed the development of thousands of kids over decades, there are significant changes to the brain including ‘premature thinning of the brain cortex, the outermost layer that processes information from the physical world.’
Not surprising, but not great news, nevertheless. The report continues:
Early results from the study, called Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD), have determined that children who spend more than two hours of daily screen time score lower on thinking and language tests. A major data release is scheduled for early 2019.
This is bad. This is really bad. The only good news is that kids who spend more than two hours looking at computers, TVs, phones or Ipads, fare much better on the not-thinking, sitting in one place, looking at a screen tests. These tests, some experts say, are a much better indicator of future success in the workforce.
This isn’t news. But we don’t care!
We’ve always known that giving kids TV and video games instead of attention or outdoor time was bad. But we don’t give crap about that stuff. They are just kids after all. We’ve also always known that feeding kids sugar, processed foods and other junk foods was a bad idea. But screw it! It’s not us! That’s why we still have entire aisles of candy at the supermarket. It’s why we still buy Count Chocula. It’s why we still go Trick or Treating. It’s why we the Coca-Cola corporation still trucks on. We don’t care! Caring is for crazy people!
But what about the 97%
Good point. What about the 97% consensus? When I’m talking about the people that don’t care, I’m talking about the 3% of us that deny science, in spite of all scientific evidence to the contrary. This 3% that chooses to shrink the brains of their children is the same 3% that denies climate change. And we know how bad these people are. (For the full guide on how to identify a climate denier, CLICK HERE.)
I know what you’re thinking: ‘Didn’t science invent TVs, Phones, Ipads, Computers, Count Chocula, Coca-Cola, High-Fructose Corn Syrup, Red Dye #40, and so on?’
I know what you’re thinking: ‘Isn’t the single most important thing I can be doing is posting things on the internet and getting likes?‘
I know what you’re thinking: ‘By the time our kids grow up, won’t science have found ways to cure all the problems we’re causing? And won’t they just be able to get enhanced intelligence implants to make up for their shrunken brains?’
And, of course, the answers are yes, yes, and YES! You’re right! Science doesn’t lie! Technically, it can’t!
GO TO TOWN! THE MORE HOURS YOUR KIDS SPEND MONKEYING AROUND ON GADGETS, THE BETTER!
LIVE IT UP!
