Today Seattle was awarded a franchise in the National Hockey League. Hoping to come out of the gates and shock the world in the same way the Las Vegas Golden Knights did this past season, they are already getting started.
‘We really want to hit the ground running,’ a team exec says. ‘The bar has been set pretty high. The Vegas team has shown us that we can be competitive right away. We’re doing everything we can to get this thing off to a flying start. And that means having a great name so we can establish brand presence. That’s why we’re proud and excited to announce the winner of the Seattle NHL team naming competition. After much deliberation, we’ve settled on a name. We are officially the Seattle Seahorses!’
Inspired by nature. Going all the way.
Needless to say fans in Seattle and fans of hockey in general are thrilled with the new name and direction this franchise is going. The new jersey is unveiled with similar neons and navys as the Seattle Seahawks, but also with some shimmery, iridescent patches running down the arms and the outside of the legs. The helmet is also a technological marvel. One that the team says will cut down drastically on concussions, and other debilitating head trauma.
‘It’s actually inspired by the seahorse. The elongated shape really helps prevent the head from compromised positions during impact. And we think it looks pretty great, too! Scary, yet peaceful at the same time. Just like our city!’
If this experiment works out, other teams will soon be coming out with their own innovations.
‘You can really just learn so much from the natural world. And you can apply most of it to hockey,’ the spokesman explains.
‘We marvel at these delicate sea creatures, small but mighty. They are the perfect symbol for what this team represents. They actually have way more spikes than you probably realize. And did you know that the seahorse is one of the only species where the male gets pregnant? Isn’t that magical? Seahorse Power! Hear us Neigh!’
