I always feel like somebody’s watching me…
No one likes the idea of being watched all the time. As much as it would eliminate most of the bad things we do, it still feels icky. And we like to do bad things. Bad things are the spice of life!
It’s been a fear since Orwell. Are we being watched? Are our calls being taped? Are our messages being read?
The answer, obviously, is yes.
But as the saying goes, the Surveillance State is useless if we don’t know we’re being watched. So we fight against the idea. They have the decency to at least pretend they aren’t watching. And we pretend we don’t know.
AND LIFE GOES ON LIKE THAT!
We shouldn’t be happy about them tracking our every move
We shouldn’t take it lying down.
We should go whole hog on the Big Brother thing in one instance only: Speeding.
Speeding in cars is dumb and it bothers people. And sometimes kills them!
Every new car has GPS. Every new car knows how fast you’re going, and how fast you should be going.
Think about this: Every time you go over the limit, a ticket shows up in the mail. Plain and simple. No ifs, ands, or buts.
BECAUSE PEOPLE NEED TO CHILL OUT AND DRIVE SLOWER! Life will be better! FOR EVERYONE! People will either learn, or we’ll be able to get rid of all other taxes and live happily ever after.
(I actually can’t believe this hasn’t happened already…)
And soon enough, your car will drive itself, so it won’t even be up to you whether or not you get to drive like a d-bag. Your robots will have to do your dirty work for you!
But aside from that, LEAVE US ALONE WITH ALL YOUR CREEPY SURVEILLANCE!
We just want to live our lives and get LIKES in peace!
Yes, we’re looking at you, new Gmail. We used to be able to pretend you weren’t reading. But those automated replies are a creepy giveaway.
